Ukraine’s EBU Member UA:PBC has won the 66th Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Stefania” performed by Kalush Orchestra. It's the 3rd win for Ukraine who last triumphed in 2016.

25 countries took part in the Grand Final of the world’s largest live music event, hosted by Italian EBU Member Rai on Saturday 14 May in Turin.  

Ivan Klymenko, Oleh Psiuk, Ihor Didenchuk, Tymofii Muzychuk and Vitalii Duzhyk wrote the winning song which finished the night with 631 points, 165 points ahead of 2nd placed United Kingdom represented by Sam Ryder singing “Space Man”. Spain’s Chanel with “SloMo” finished in third place.  

Following the performances of the 25 Grand Finalists, the results of the juries in the 40 participating nations who voted on Friday’s dress rehearsal were given out leaving the United Kingdom in the lead.  

This was followed by an exciting, tense sequence where viewers’ televotes for each competing country were combined and added to the scoreboard resulting in a thrilling finale that saw Ukraine leap to the top.  

An estimated audience of nearly 200 million will have seen this year's Contest which was broadcast live in the 40 participating countries. The event also reached millions on TikTok, the Contest’s Official Entertainment Partner where the 3 live shows were live streamed for the first time and on YouTube.  

The 25 finalists performed live in front of an audience of nearly 7,000 inside the PalaOlimpico.  

In total, 40 EBU Members competed in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. 15 nations were knocked out in two Semi-Finals held on 10 and 12 May.

Obviously, there are unique challenges involved in hosting next year’s competition.  

However, as in any other year, we look forward to discussing all the requirements and responsibilities involved in hosting the competition with UA:PBC and all other stakeholders to ensure we have the most suitable setup for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.” 

24 cameras, 78 microphones and over 2,800 lighting fixtures were used on the production. 727 square metres of LED screens were employed on the stage and 440 speakers brought “The Sound of Beauty”, this year’s theme to the audience in the arena. 

Around 500 journalists were also in the host city Turin to cover the event with a further 1000 covering the event from their own countries thanks to an Online Press Centre.  

The Grand Final of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest was broadcast live in all 40 participating nations by EBU Members RTSH (Albania), ORF (Austria), AMPTV (Armenia), ICTIMAI (Azerbaijan), VRT (Belgium), RTBF (Belgium), HRT (Croatia), CyBC (Cyprus), ČT (Czech Republic), DR (Denmark), ERR (Estonia), YLE (Finland), France Télévisions (France), GPB (Georgia), ARD (Germany), ERT (Greece), MTV (Hungary), RÚV (Iceland), RTÉ (Ireland), KAN (Israel), RAI (Italy), LTV (Latvia), LRT (Lithuania), MRT (North Macedonia), PBS (Malta), TRM (Moldova), RTCG (Montenegro), AVROTROS (The Netherlands), NRK (Norway), TVP (Poland), RTP (Portugal), TVR (Romania), SMRTV (San Marino), RTS (Serbia), RTVSLO (Slovenia), RTVE (Spain), SVT (Sweden), SRG SSR (Switzerland), UA:PBC (Ukraine), BBC (United Kingdom) and Associate Member SBS (Australia).  

NBC, hosts of the American Song Contest which concluded on Monday 9 May, also streamed all of this year’s shows on their Peacock platform.  

14 EBU Radio Members broadcast the Grand Final live: VRT (Belgium), ORF (Austria), BNR (Bulgaria), ERR (Estonia), RBB (Germany), RTÉ (Ireland), RAI (Italy), LRT (Lithuania), NPO (Netherlands) RTS (Serbia), RTVS (Slovakia), RTVSLO (Slovenia), SR (Sweden) and the BBC (United Kingdom).  

The 66th Eurovision Song Contest was a co-production between the EBU and Rai.
