The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has signed a new one-year agreement with HBA Media to bring horse racing’s Crown Jewels Racing events to Eurovision Sport in select European markets.

The broadcast deal, which starts this Saturday (13 April) with the Randox Grand National, will see the world’s most famous jump race gain additional international exposure in 19 new territories – reinforcing its status as the most-watched jump race on the planet.

The full EBU media rights agreement incorporates 15 Crown Jewels Racing events and five days of Royal Ascot (18 – 22 June).

All the races will be shown live and free-to-air on the EBU’s new digital streaming platform – Eurovision Sport. The platform complements the coverage provided by its public service media members, democratizing access to sport.

Glen Killane, Executive Director of the European Broadcasting Union, added: “I am thrilled to welcome the fast-paced sport of horse racing to our dynamic platform. This partnership with HBA Media marks a significant milestone in our journey, bringing the tradition and excitement of horse racing into homes across Europe. We are particularly excited about the upcoming Randox Grand National this weekend, a historic event that captures the imagination and spirit of sports enthusiasts everywhere. Our commitment to delivering free-to-air, high-quality streaming experiences ensures that fans will not miss a moment of the action.”

HBA Media, who represent the international racecourses and federations including Ascot Racecourse and Racecourse Media Group, has welcomed this new partnership which sees non-exclusive live and delayed digital OTT horse racing coverage across Europe, including France and Spain.

Davy Turner, Head of Sales and Development, added: “HBA strives to secure horse racing with the widest global audience possible and this new agreement does just that.

“Our pairing with Eurovision Sport will provide the Crown Jewels Racing events with new eyes in territories currently untapped for horse racing, from which we will endeavour to capitalise on fresh opportunities for the sport. On behalf of our clients and the racecourse that we represent, we welcome new initiatives and look forward to working with the EBU.”
