On 25 January, the EBU joined a civil society coalition to call on negotiators of the Council of Europe's Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence to ensure coverage of both the public and private sectors and to reject blanket exemptions for national security.

The coalition is concerned that diluting the Convention's provisions could undermine rights and protection. As negotiations near completion, the coalition highlights the pressing need to fortify the Convention, ensuring the enduring safeguarding of rights amidst the ever-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.
