Nicolau Santos has been appointed President of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) by the Independent Supervisory Body.

He has worked as President of Lusa - the Portuguese Press Agency - for the last three years.

In the past, he has worked as the director of a range of economic newspapers and of the popular daily paper Publico. He was also Deputy Director of Expresso, an independent weekly newspaper. An experienced journalist, he was co-host of a regular news show on SIC - the private Portuguese channel.

Nicolau Santos was born in Angola and graduated from ISEG-Lisbon in Economics and Business.
