At its extraordinary session on 4 August, Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media appointed Milen Mitev, Administrative Director of Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), as Interim Director General following the resignation of Director General Andon Baltakov who stated deeply personal reason for leaving BNR.

Milen Mitev holds a Masters in Law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He joined BNR’s legal team in 2009 as a Legal Adviser specializing in the fields of media law and copyright. Most of his professional career has been at BNR, including an appointment as Director of the Legal and HR Department from July 2018 to July 2019. He is also experienced in public procurement, labour & administrative law, European projects and initiatives.

Milen Mitev has been closely involved in the work of EBU bodies and was a member of the Legal and Policy Committee from 2013 to 2019. He was re-elected to the Committee in April 2021.

The Council for Electronic Media is expected to appoint the next Director General of BNR by November 2021.
