France Télévisions to host 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Paris

20 May 2021

The EBU and its Member France Télévisions are pleased to announce that Paris, the city of light, will be the official Host City for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC).

Following Valentina’s victory representing France at JESC 2020 in Poland – France’s first-ever win in the competition - France Télévisions will organize the contest at the Seine Musicale, located on the Ile Seguin in western Paris.

The 19th edition of Contest for talented 9-14 year olds will be held on Sunday 19 December.

The 2020 edition reached 32 million viewers and was hosted in Warsaw by Polish broadcaster, TVP.

The slogan of the 19th JESC in Paris will be "Imagine", chosen for its echoes of Valentina’s winning song – J’imagine - in 2020 and also that the power to imagine is infinite, especially for children and something needed more than ever today.

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor, for JESC, said, “We are delighted to announce that Paris will be the Host City of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021. It’s exciting to be returning to the French capital with a Eurovision event for the first time in over 40 years. The team at France Télévisions have the passion, dedication and energy to create a fantastic show in December where talented young artists can shine and “imagine” they will win the Junior Eurovision trophy.”

Alexandra Redde-Amiel, Head of Variety and Entertainment at France Télévisions, said, “Next December, for the first time in 43 years, France will host a Eurovision event!! A wonderful project! The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is an incredible new challenge for us to produce an authentic show, and especially for me as Executive Producer! The Junior Eurovision Song Contest represents the cultural diversity of our young audience in Europe and that means a lot to me. We will be fully involved to offer a great, unique and ambitious show in Paris”.
