Final A European Perspective results are in

31 May 2023
  • 90% of audience surveyed finds ‘A European Perspective’ useful
  • 245 million potential audience in the participating countries
  • 20 partners in 17 countries, the number of partners has doubled since kick-off on 1 July 2021

Spotlighting the achievements of ‘A European Perspective’, the EBU releases the successes and growth over the past year, while also outlining future prospects.

Eric Scherer, Director News MediaLab and International Affairs, France Télévisions said: “As we worked day-to-day to make ‘A European Perspective’ a success, we rarely had time to step back and examine our great strides forward. We appreciate the investment from the EU and are pleased to present our results and how the project has grown. Notably, over two user surveys we see that Europeans are overwhelmingly appreciating our news and cross-border content. We are also on the cutting edge of AI innovation and expanding into new markets.”

Justyna Kurczabinska Head of News Strategy & Transformation, EBU, said: “We could not have known, but this past year brought new, exponential threats to reliable information and democracy as Generative AI technologies, like ChatGPT, were made widely available to citizens. Thus strengthening democracy has never been more important. This is why sharing trusted journalism in the digital landscape helps to fight disinformation and contribute to the creation of a shared reality among the Europeans. The collaborative work on trusted algorithms is crucial to balancing information disorder.”

ABOUT 'A EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE'

'A European Perspective' brings together public service media organizations to share original online news content, offering their audiences fresh insight into pan-European issues.

Each participating organization shares its stories through a Digital News Platform, where they are translated into multiple languages using the EBU's EuroVOX AI translation tool and robust editorial workflows.

Editors select the most relevant stories for their audiences and publish them through a dedicated widget featured on their websites. To see a list of our participating Members, go to europeanperspective.net.
