This year’s UCI Track Cycling World Championships, taking place in Berlin’s Velodrome, will be shown live on TV in an estimated 50 European countries, including the continent’s top TV markets.

The line-up of broadcasters of the championships, which begin today, 26 February, 2020, and run until 1 March, includes 10 EBU Members, one more than at last year’s world championships in Pruszków, Poland.

They are: VRT (Belgium); CT (Czech Republic); TV2 (Denmark); France 3 (France); ZDF (Germany); RAI (Italy); NOS (Netherlands); TV2 (Norway); TVP (Poland); and BBC (UK).

These are supplemented by pan-European coverage provided by Eurosport.

In April 2016, the EBU was awarded European media rights for UCI World Championships, while IMG, operating under EBU sub-licence, handles the rights outside Europe. Eurovision Services, an EBU company, will act as Host Broadcaster for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships.

A total of 46 teams have qualified for this year’s UCI Track Cycling World Championships, with 397 riders (169 women and 228 men) set to fight for 20 world championship titles over the five days of competition.

A highlight of the championships will come on Sunday 1 March, the final day of the event, when home favourites Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt attempt to retain their Madison title for a third successive edition, having taken the rainbow jersey in both 2018 and 2019.

The last time the UCI Track Cycling World Championships were held in the Berlin Velodrome in 1999, France and Germany dominated, with France winning seven out of 12 titles and Germany finishing second with three gold medals.
