12-year-old Viki Gabor representing Poland has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019, giving her country its 2nd win in a row on home soil.

Viki stunned audiences at home and inside Poland’s Arena Gliwice with an incredible performance of "Superhero*", finishing with an impressive 278 points.

It's the first time a country has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest two years in succession and the first time a host country has won the competition. 

19 EBU Members and Associates took part in the annual competition for talented youngsters aged 9 to 14.

The 17th edition was organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), hosted by Telewizja Polska (TVP) and broadcast live from Gliwice, Poland to audiences in the participating countries and online around the world on junioreurovision.tv.

Poland first took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and made their 6th appearance this year. 

Yerzhan Maxim from Kazakhstan, picked up 227 points to finish in 2nd place with “Armanyńnan Qalma”. Spain's Melani Garcia singing "Marte” was 3rd with 212 points.

NEARLY 4 MILLION VOTES

Viewers from participating countries and around the world helped decide the winner by voting online. 

Juries made up of three industry experts and two children from each participating country provided 50% of the scores.

A record 3.77 million votes were received in the online poll which was split into two rounds; one before the show based on preview clips and a second that opened after the last live performance, allowing viewers to cast their votes based on what they saw on stage.

This year’s show was hosted by last year’s winner Roxana Wiegel together with Polish TV presenters Ida Nowakowska and Aleksander Sikora.

The host broadcaster for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will be announced in the coming months.
