Svetoslav Kostov elected as Director General of BNR

Svetoslav Kostov has been elected as the new Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) by the Council for Electronic Media.

Svetoslav's journalistic career at BNR started in 1998 at the regional Radio Plovdiv and continued at the national News and Current Affairs Channel Horizont where he worked as a reporter, editor, anchor and Head of Sports. For the last three years he was Director of BNR’s regional station Radio Sofia.

Svetoslav Kostov is also a lecturer in radio journalism at the BNR Academy Master Classes, supported by the EBU, and at the National Sports Academy in Sofia.

The new Director General says he will strive to secure a sustainable future for BNR as an independent and pluralistic public service broadcaster. He will focus on expanding the audience, attracting young people, producing high quality content and keeping BNR’s leading position of trusted news provider. He will work for the modernization of programme distribution and formats, promoting creativity and editorial reform.

“I will devote my efforts to the cause of public service radio for the benefit of its audience and all the people working at BNR” he said.

His three-year term started on July 2, 2019.
