In this week celebrating the achievements of women, never let it be said that our Radio Members aren’t trying to promote female artists, conductors and composers in their programming. The following is just a sample of music offers available in MUS, featuring concerts on or close to International Women’s Day, many of them by radio ensembles:

RTÉ, 8 March 2019: SM/2018/11/53/04 – Clarinettist Kari Kriikku is the soloist in a work by Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho

BBC, 8 March 2019: SM/2019/01/07/05 – Valentina Peleggi leads the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in works by Clara Schumann, Augusta Holmès, Joan Tower and early African-American composer Florence Price, with 26-year-old Georgian pianist Mariam Batsashvili as the soloist

SR, 8 March 2019: EURO/2018-2019/OS2/005 – An opera by the Swedish Late Romantic composer Elfrida Andrée, with libretto by Selma Lagerlöf

BBC, 14 March 2019: SM/2019/01/07/06 – The Kungsbacka Piano Trio plays music by Clara Schumann and British composer Natalie Klouda

BBC, 5 April 2019: SM/2019/02/09/03 – Violinist Nicola Benedetti is the soloist and leads the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in two Mozart concertos
