Digital Transformation Initiative delivers workshop with ERR

The EBU's Digital Unit has visited colleagues at Estonian Member ERR for a full-day workshop on the challenges, goals and priorities for digital transformation within the organization.

The workshop, part of the Digital Transformation Initiative (DTI), brought together members of the executive team from across all departments of ERR.

ERR is in a strong position, with clear priorities for the future. Its digital news output is showing impressive growth in a competitive local market.

The launch of a new web player is planned for 2019, and will have significant impact on the internal culture of the organization in shifting to a digital-first mindset. With short term targets that include developing a new model for content rights for the digital arena, and ensuring legislation supports public service provision online, ERR faces challenges that are shared by many Members.

Importantly, ERR has a clear vision for driving digital change that is supported by the senior leadership team, and a positive, forward-thinking strategy.

The day created an opportunity to discuss these and other issues with the EBU framework for digital transformation, bringing in examples of best practice from Members and linking to the relevant EBU permanent services.

ABOUT OUR INITIATIVE

The Digital Transformation Initiative helps Members understand the challenges and opportunities of the information age, and support them through their own change processes.

Digital technology has fundamentally altered the expectations, interactions, and consumption patterns of our audiences. As a result, Public Service Media (PSM) must engage in fundamental transformation if they are to remain relevant in this increasingly competitive and constantly changing environment.

We know that every Member faces different issues, which is why the DTI draws together expertise from across the EBU to address these from a multidisciplinary perspective. We provide expertise, knowledge exchange, and tailored support services.

Together, we help Members build stronger organizations.
