The 100 days to Go celebrations until the inaugural multi-sport European Championships 2018 continued with an event at Berlin Zoo (Sunday 29 April), in which Berlino the Bear was unveiled as the mascot for the events in Berlin.

Berlin and Glasgow will co-host the first ever combined European Championships, from 2 to 12 August this summer. Athletics will take place in Berlin, with Aquatics, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon taking place in Glasgow.

Nine years after his famous performances at the Berlin 2009 World Championships, Berlino the bear is back and will entertain the audiences at Berlin Olympic Stadium as thousands of fans watch some of the biggest names in the sport compete for track and field honours.

The Berlin Olympic Stadium will see six days of top class competition from 7 – 12 August, with over 1,500 athletes competing and will also see the sports of athletics brought out from the stadium directly into the heart of the city.

For seven days, a unique architectural landscape will be created in Berlin´s City West, where European athletics can be experienced every single day. There will be a blue 400m track across the entire Breitscheidplatz so that visitors can relax or be active themselves. The highlight is an arena for almost 3,000 spectators with a big stage hosting victory ceremonies in the evening for the first time in history of continental championships. Next to Gedächtniskirche the walking and marathon competitions will take place as well as the men's shot-put qualification and Berlin Zoo is playing an important role offering the warm-up opportunities for all walking and marathon competitions.

In addition to the sporting competitions and the victory ceremonies, an attractive and diverse program with interactive athletics modules, music and shows is awaiting the visitors.

Broadcasters in over 40 territories across Europe and Worldwide will broadcast the first ever multi-sport European Championships to a potential audience of up to 1.03 billion.
