EBU and OSCE train RTSH journalists on online media and social networks

The EBU and the OSCE Presence in Albania, in close cooperation with Albanian Member RTSH, have organized an intensive training on online media and use of social networks for 15 RTSH journalists and editors.

The training focused on improving writing skills for online media as well as improving ways of engaging and growing the audience online.

The EBU's trainer Justin Kings said: "I've been very impressed with the enthusiasm to learn and the passion of the training participants. I hope they are now better equipped with knowledge and inspired to forward with creating engaging content on their website and social media pages."

Participants discussed the challenges of fake news and received more information on research methods and verification steps for online and social media news.

They also discussed the importance of digital strategies for modern public broadcasters, aimed at intensifying instant interaction with audiences.

Vojislav Raonic, Senior Media Officer at OSCE Presence in Albania praised the determination of RTSH's management and editorial team to pursue active engagement in the social media domain: “Social media platforms are part of new programme equation. These third-party platforms offer valuable opportunities for public service media to engage and interact with their audiences”, he underlined.

Following a Memorandum of Understanding, the EBU and the OSCE Presence in Albania closely cooperate with RTSH in its transformation into independent, accountable and sustainable public service media.
