For over two decades, the Euroradio Summer Festivals have remained true to their goal of providing radio audiences with a selection of the best classical music, much of it live via satellite – symphony concerts, operas, chamber music and vocal recitals – from European festivals, both prestigious and lesser-known.

This year once again, from 12 June until 10 September, listeners will be treated to a selection made by EBU radio organizations from among over 370 programmes, all offered in MUS and coordinated from the Euroradio Control Centre in Geneva.

Highlights of this year's offer range from such perennial and eagerly awaited events as Wagner's operas from Bayreuth, the incredibly varied BBC Proms or Beethoven's Ninth from the Théâtre antique in Orange (pictured), to Monteverdi's Orfeo performed by the up-and-coming Cappella Mediterranea ensemble in Bruges or star pianists András Schiff, Evgeny Kissin and Nikolai Lugansky from the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.

There is also more unusual fare to be discovered, such as the European Union Youth Orchestra in a programme of Scandinavian and Baltic composers from the Grafenegg Festival in Austria, or a timely programme from Catalunya Ràdio devoted to a dialogue between different cultures and religions through music, with the celebrated Jordi Savall at the head of an international group of performers.

As is the case every year, the Permanent Services will benefit from the assistance of engineers from EBU Members to aid in the technical coordination of these concerts:
