Eurosonic Conference opens in Brussels with focus on European creativity

The capital of Europe is the appropriate setting for this week's Eurosonic Conference (16-18 May), organized at Ancienne Belgique (pictured) by Euroradio Member VRT in association with Creative Europe and in conjunction with the Botanique Festival.

Creative Europe is the European Union's programme supporting the cultural and audiovisual sector, aimed at helping European projects with the potential to reach new audiences while encouraging creativity and skill-sharing.

After the opening of the Conference by Eurosonic Group Chair Hervé Riesen, and welcoming remarks by the head of the European Commission's Creative Europe Unit, Barbara Gessler, there will be a presentation of the various music projects supported by Creative Europe, including We Are Europe, Liveurope and the European Border Breakers Awards and European Border Breakers Charts (EBBA/EBBC), with which Eurosonic has been associated for several years.

The Eurosonic Conference will also feature a presentation of the Belgian music and media landscape, preparations for the 2018 Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, discussions on the importance of live music, the first findings of the EBU's pan-European Music Programming Survey and a look at the Montreux Jazz and Tomorrowland festivals

The Conference will conclude with election of the new Euroradio Eurosonic Group.
