The Euroradio Christmas Music Day remains one of the EBU’s most popular offerings. The winning format has never varied since it first aired in 1995.

On the Sunday before Christmas, around a dozen EBU radio organizations contribute live or deferred hour-long concerts focused on the theme of Christmas. The repertory is vast, ranging from Gregorian chant and traditional carols to sacred folksongs and contemporary a cappella works.

One of the keys to the Day’s appeal resides in the sense of proximity that it conveys to radio audiences throughout Europe and beyond, brought together as a community of listeners around a common theme.

This year’s offering features, among others, the RTÉ Cór na nÓg (Irish Radio Children's Choir, pictured here), Canada's only professional recorder ensemble, a recital of German Baroque organ music, and, of course, Jean Sibelius’ tune specially written for and performed on the bells of Helsinki’s Kallio Church, which has always been one of the Day's concert venues since it began.

Available to all EBU radio organizations taking the Season, this beautiful programme of over 13 hours of Christmas music will be aired live on Sunday, 18 December and is accessible in MUS.
