A film first  broadcast on TV Moldova 1 has been awarded the Young ADAMI Media Prize. The documentary 'Generation Emigration' was made by Natalia Sergheev and Alexander Blumberg and produced by RFE/RL.

The prize was awarded to them at a Gala Ceremony in the Ukrainian capital Kiev yesterday by former EBU Vice President Boris Bergant. The documentary is one of six winners of the ADAMI Media Prize 2016, selected by an international jury from among 12 shortlisted films. The documentary explores the phenomenon of mass youth emigration from Moldova to Western Europe in the search for a better life. 
 
The ADAMI Prize promotes cultural diversity and creates a platform for networking and exchange among media professionals. This second addition of the ADAMI Prize is under the patronage of the OSCE representative of Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic and the Council of Europe’s Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland. Overall 209 films from Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus and Azerbaijan competed in six categories.  

Bergant said: "This is a tremendously important project that aims to foster a professional approach to understanding cultural diversity in the integration process and improve the quality of journalism."
 
The Awards have been growing in significance and, this year, ADAMI signed memorandums with EBU Members MDR, ZDF and the French-German cultural channel ARTE. This further supports the initiative to foster a dialogue between broadcasters in Eastern and Western Europe. The next Awards will be hosted by EBU Member TRM in Moldova.
