There is nothing old about the Maîtrise de Radio France (Radio France Children's Chorus), starting with its members. Founded in 1946, this prestigious young people's vocal ensemble celebrated its 70^th anniversary with a concert on 18 October at the Radio France Broadcasting House in Paris, which included alumni from the Chorus dating back to the 1970s.

This special event, featuring music ranging from Fauré's beloved Cantique de Jean Racine to Dona nobis pacem composed for the group by Esa-Pekka Salonen, is now available to EBU Members and Associates in MUS under reference SM/16/11/17/01.

The Radio France Children's Chorus can already look back on a past rich in musical highlights. The singers have premiered pieces written especially for them by Iannis Xenakis and Philippe Hersant. Since 2009, the group has appeared each year at the Radio France and Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon Festival. In 2014, it inaugurated the Radio France Auditorium with a performance of Benjamin Britten's Noye's Fludde. Last year's highlights include the first performances of no fewer than three children's operas and a tour in France and Switzerland with Olivier Messiaen's Trois Petites Liturgies.

The Chorus' current Director, Sofi Jeannin, comments: "There are, of course, far larger young people's choruses in the world, but none as specialized as ours. The work that we do at Radio France with its orchestras and its programming is quite simply unique."
