The EBU was invited to present the preliminary results of its landmark ‘Generation What’ project to the EU's Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council, on 21 November in Brussels.

The results of the 'Generation What' study, which surveyed nearly one million 18 to 34 year olds in 14 different European countries, contributed to a discussion amongst Ministers about the challenges young people face today in Europe.

Presenting the ‘Generation What’ study, EBU President Jean-Paul Philippot said: “Engaging with younger audiences is a top priority for public service media. We cannot live up to our values without involving them. Only a direct dialogue will lead to a successful communication between generations and to a new trustful cooperation."

He added: "The ‘Generation What’ project is a great example of how Europe’s public service media can help build bridges in society. We strongly believe we can build on this example to communicate and engage with younger audiences."

On Wednesday 16 November, the EBU unveiled the preliminary results of the study, which show that optimism and support for Europe go hand in hand. The report is available here and further analysis will be released in early 2017.
