61st Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final line-up complete

The list of the 26 countries competing to win the 61st Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday 14 May is now complete following two semi-finals in this year’s host city Stockholm.

Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and Ukraine all qualified from the second Semi-Final held at the Globen Arena on Thursday 12 May.

Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, The Netherlands and Russia were all voted through from the first Semi-Final of the competition on Tuesday 10 May.

The result of each Semi-Final was decided by adding together the votes of national juries in each participating nation with telephone votes from viewers. For the first time in 2016, each country gives two sets of points.

The 20 Semi-Final qualifiers join France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as hosts Sweden who all have an automatic place in the Grand Final.

Around 1,500 journalists from over 80 nations are in the host city of Stockholm covering the world’s biggest non-sporting live television event.

“We have 26 great songs competing in the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final and viewers are promised a thrilling show on Saturday night. Host broadcaster SVT has already produced two fantastic semi-finals and the Grand Final of the world’s biggest music entertainment show looks certain to be a spectacular show,” said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest.

American singer Justin Timberlake will also perform in Saturday’s Grand Final as the televotes from the 42 countries taking part are counted and verified. National juries will vote during a dress rehearsal on Friday 13 May.
