The EBU has welcomed the Lange report on TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) which confirms the exclusion of audiovisual services from the negotiation mandate. The report was adopted on July 8 during the plenary session of the European Parliament.

The Parliament also importantly recommends ensuring, through a legally binding general clause, that the EU and the Member States remain free to take cultural and media policy measures

Nicola Frank, Head of the EBU Brussels office, applauded the European Parliament for adopting a technology and platform neutral approach to audiovisual services, commenting that the “Parliament’s approach accommodates innovation and development while supporting a diverse and open European media landscape in this globalised environment.”
