Sustainability is a multi-faceted topic at the top of agendas everywhere. But what does it mean in practice? Is it such a new concept? Representatives from music festivals known for their environmental awareness share what sustainability means for them and their audiences. Among our guests are the organizers of the Baltic Sea Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

“I’m not so naïve that I believe that classical musicians will be able to save the Baltic Sea from environmental abuse. But I do believe that our chances to improve the situation will be much greater if we contribute to raising the general consciousness.” Esa-Pekka Salonen, founder of Baltic Sea Festival.

This online panel discussion was live streamed on the EBU’s Facebook page.

It is part of the Music and Radio 60-minute sessions organized by the EBU Music Unit.
