Ľuboš Machaj elected Director General of RTVS

Radio and Television Slovakia (RTVS) have elected a new Director General, Ľuboš Machaj. He replaces the previous Director General, Jaroslav Rezník.

From 2006 to 2013, Ľuboš Machaj worked as programme director of Slovak Radio. In 2011, he helped steer the merger between Slovak Radio and Slovak Television into a new entity - RTVS. He has collaborated in the development of several radio and television programmes.

From 1993 to 2003 he was a co-owner and programme director of the private radio station Radio Twist, which played an important role in promoting the principles of civil society in Slovakia. In his early career, he wrote scripts for radio plays and TV shows. In 1980, he took up the position of dramaturge at Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava. He further worked in the editorial department of radio drama for children and youth. For several years, he presented the very popular motor show Pozor zákruta!

"I congratulate the new director and keep my fingers crossed that he succeeds in implementing the visions he set in his project," said the outgoing head of RTVS Jaroslav Rezník.

Ľuboš Machaj took up the post on August 2, 2022.
