Commenting on her appointment, Vibeke Fürst Haugen said: “I think this is the country's most exciting media management job. I am passionate about public service broadcasting and am motivated by NRK's mission and high ambitions. We will strengthen and develop democracy by delivering world-class content that can bring together and engage everyone who lives in Norway. NRK is teamwork, and I cannot think of anything more rewarding than being able to lead NRK into the future”.

Norway’s Minister of Culture and Gender Equality Anette Trettebergstuen commented “NRK is one of our most important cultural institutions, and the position as Director General is one of the most important jobs in the Norwegian media industry.
