Moldovan Member TRM wins major cultural diversity prize

The EBU's Moldovan Member TRM has won the ADAMI Media Prize for Information (Non-Fiction) for "Soroca's Bolshoi Theatre".

The documentary, with great characters, shows the life of Moldova's Roma people in a new, positive light. It was produced and broadcast by TV Moldova 1 and directed by Eugeniu Popovici.

The ADAMI Media Prize for Cultural Diversity in Eastern Europe gave out six prizes to nominees from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the Organ Hall, Chisinau on 29 November.

The prize is the most prominent media award for cultural diversity in Eastern Europe. It recognizes outstanding films, videos, and websites from Eastern partnership countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - that promote diversity, integration and peaceful co-existence.

Olga Bordeianu, President of TRM said: "We strive to educate and increase levels of tolerance in our country. Thanks to our partnership with the ADAMI Prize, our journalists have the opportunity to present their work internationally and establish productive relationships with their peers. TRM will continue to contribute to the flourishing of cultural intergration in the future."

16 films and projects were shortlisted by an international jury in Odessa in October, of which six received prizes. Experts from the EBU helped select the winners.
