Over one million responses to Generation What Europe in Czech Republic
Radio Wave's new studio at Czech Radio

Since its launch on Monday 11 April the Generation What Europe project has attracted significant interest across the 11 EBU Member countries taking part.

In the Czech Republic, Czech Radio have reported the website has received more than 1 million responses from people filling in the 140+ question survey.

Czech Radio is one of 15 EBU members taking part in the Generation What project which aims to create a picture of how a generation of 18-34 year-olds from across Europe feel about key issues including family, work and national identity. Czech Radio is offering a wide range of activities to engage young Czechs.

The launch of the project was marked by the opening of a new glass-walled broadcasting studio at Radio Wave, Czech Radio’s youth oriented station. An open-air street party will take take place too on 16 April.

“The Generation What project monitors the opinions of the young generation and Czech Radio as a public service organisation is pleased to have been able to join in. One of the pivotal representatives of the project is Czech Radio’s Radio Wave station, targeting young-minded audiences. It will therefore take care of its presentation at a planned big concert featuring a special zone, where our listeners will have the opportunity to learn more about Generation What,” said Czech Radio’s Director General René Zavoral.

Data provided by the respondents in the Czech Republic will be processed by the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, The first summary of the results will be available in autumn. Responses from around Europe can be viewed and compared right now on the official website Generation What Europe

As part of the project launch in France, the Executive Director of France 4, Tiphaine de Raguenel, invited representatives of various French and international youth organisations to hear more about Generation What Europe at the Headquarters of France Télévisions in Paris.

The aim was to get members of their organisations to participate in the initiative and to empahsise the contribution to society that public service media makes.

The 15 EBU Members taking part are BNN (Netherlands), BR (Germany), Czech Radio (Czech Republic), Czech Television (Czech Republic), ERT (Greece), France Télévisions (France), ORF (Austria), RAI (Italy), RTBF (Belgium), RTE (Ireland), RTVE (Spain), S4C (Wales), SWR (Germany), VRT (Belgium) and ZDF (Germany).
