BBC Director of Radio Helen Boaden (left) and Chair of BAFTA Anne Morrison will co-host the 2016 meeting.

The EBU's 3rd annual Women Executives in Media (WEM) meeting will take place in London (2-3 February 2016) and will be hosted by two of the British broadcasting industry's most prominent executives.

Helen Boaden, BBC Director of Radio, and Anne Morrison, Chair of the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) and the former Director of the BBC Academy, will welcome this year's delegates at the BBC's New Broadcasting House.

Ms Boaden is enthusiastic at co-hosting the event, which offers a lively and dynamic forum for top public broadcasting professionals to share experiences, both on and off air:

“There’s been a lot of progress in many parts of Europe but there’s still more to be done. This will be a chance for us to learn from each other about how we can best encourage and open up more opportunities for women across the industry.”

Ms Morrison, who launched the BBC Academy in 2009, pointed out that despite the great strides women in media have made over the last few years, there is still much further to go:

"We’ll be turning our minds to the important issue of how in organizations like BAFTA and the BBC we can bring the most talented people into our industry, regardless of their background and ensure that women are fairly represented.”

This year's meeting will focus on diversity of all kinds in the workplace and finding new talent. There will also be an in depth look at career transformation programmes for women.

Programme and registration information can be found on the WEM 3rd Meeting event page.

More about the co-hosts

BBC's Director of Radio Helen Boaden rose up through the ranks from award-winning radio journalist to BBC Radio 4 controller. She went on to become Head of BBC News where she launched the broadcaster's multimedia newsroom, before returning to radio as the division's director.

Anne Morrison, the former Director of BBC Academy and current Chair of BAFTA, similarly progressed from television producer/director to BBC Controller of Documentaries and Contemporary Factual. In 2009, she launched the BBC Academy for which she directed until 2014, when she took up her current position as Chair of BAFTA.
