New Radio Day tunes in to 'personalised radio'

How can broadcasters find and serve niche audiences better? That’s one of the core questions being asked at this year’s Euroradio New Radio Day hosted by Latvijas Radio in Riga on September 29 and 30.

Places are still available for the annual event which brings together EBU Members to focus on the latest hot topics in radio. This year New Radio Day will examine the growth of 'personalised radio' and how traditional radio can compete effectively with the growing competition of online services eating into their market share.

Discussions will take place on how to organise a smooth combination of linear (live) and non-linear (on demand, podcast) radio services with examples from the BBC’s General Manager of Product/Radio Andrew Scott, Simon Gooch, Digital Media Director for SBS Discovery Radio in Sweden and Laurent Finet, RTBF’s Director of Production and Digital Innovation amongst others.

Attendees will also learn how broadcasters can use audience behavioural data (big data) to attract target groups in an increasingly fragmented digitally-driven media world.

The EBU’s Head of Radio Christian Vogg says New Radio Day offers Members the chance to discuss the latest trends, share best practices and learn about new platforms and technologies:

“Radio broadcasters seek to sharpen their profiles to attract target groups and engage with their audiences more actively through ‘personalised radio’. This year’s New Radio Day will allow participants to find out more about content solutions and the technologies available like LISNR, from the US.”

The full agenda for the Riga event can be found here and interested participants can register online. More information can be found on the New Radio Day event page.
